Take a break from your usual commute! Sit back, relax and take a free trial ride on the bus or an Easy Street® van for up to one week, if there's an available route in your area.
Guaranteed Ride Program
When illness or a personal emergency make it necessary to leave work early, the Guaranteed Ride Program provides free transportation to Easy Street® van riders and Express Bus and Shore Line East commuters who purchase a 31-Day or Monthly Pass.
Park & Ride Lots
Connecticut maintains hundreds of Park & Ride lots conveniently located throughout the state. These are FREE to use for daily parking for trips to and from work. Catch a bus, connect with a carpool or vanpool at a commuter lot and give yourself an easier commute!
Commuter Tax Benefits
Federal tax law allows substantial tax savings for commuters who travel to work by train, bus or vanpool. An employer sets up a program (a Connecticut Commuter Services representative can help with this), that allows an employee to set aside up to $230 per month of his/her salary before taxes to pay for transit or vanpool fares. An employee may also set aside up to $230 for qualified parking. Tax savings can be more than $800 a year - just for traveling to work!
