Connecticut's Shore Line East rail service provides fast and easy transportation between Old Saybrook and New Haven seven days a week with Metro-North New Haven Line connections to destinations west of New Haven. Service is available on weekdays from New London, and free parking is available at all Shore Line East stations (except New London and New Haven).
Shore Line East/New Haven Line Connections
Two daily morning and afternoon Shore Line East express trains travel round-trip from east of New Haven to Bridgeport and Stamford. Other Shore Line East trains can connect you with the New Haven Line for your trip to other points in Connecticut or New York.
Using New Haven Union Station
Parking at New Haven Union Station can be difficult – especially later in the morning on weekdays as the station parking garage fills to capacity. There is off-site parking available at the Temple Street garage and the surface lot at the former New Haven Coliseum. Both are served by a free weekday shuttle bus that goes directly to the Union Station. The shuttle information is located on CTTRANSIT’s website here: http://www.cttransit.com/RoutesSchedules/UnionStation.asp. When arriving at the Union Station as your destination, the same shuttle serves the New Haven Green, connecting to all other CTTRANSIT New Haven local bus routes.
Additionally, Commuter Connection shuttles, timed to meet incoming trains, are available from State Street Station in the morning that serve the downtown and Sargent Drive areas – visit www.cttransit.com for more information.
Using Bridgeport Station
The local bus station and the Port Jefferson ferry terminal are immediately adjacent to the Bridgeport train station. For bus information, visit www.gbtabus.com, and for ferry information, visit www.bpjferry.com.
Using Stamford Station
All local bus routes in Stamford originate from the Stewart B. McKinney Transportation Center. For bus information, including Commuter Connection routes that are specially timed to meet incoming trains, visit www.cttransit.com. Additional service from the station is provided by many local employer private shuttles.
