10-Trip Bus Pass
Try the bus for your work commute, at no cost
Every commuter who swaps a car trip for the bus means less congestion on Connecticut’s roads and cleaner air for everyone. CTrides removes the biggest barrier to giving transit a try, the cost, with a one-time, no-cost 10-trip bus pass for trips to and from work.

How it works
Step

Step
Step
Use your 10 trips to get to and from work and see what the bus can do for your commute.

This program is designed specifically to help commuters try transit for work trips. To qualify, please make sure you meet the following criteria:
- New to the bus: This program is for Connecticut residents who have not previously used bus service in the state.
- Traveling to work: Passes are intended only for trips to and from your place of employment, not personal or recreational travel.
- Employment verification: You’ll be asked to provide proof of employment, such as a pay stub, offer letter, work schedule, or employer letter.
- One per household: To help as many people as possible, trial passes are limited to one per household.
All requests are reviewed by our team to ensure program guidelines are met, and submission of a request does not guarantee receipt of a pass. Providing false or misleading information may make you ineligible for this and future CTrides programs.
Common Questions
-
Is there a cost or commitment?
No. The pass is provided at no cost, and there’s nothing to cancel or pay back once your 10 trips are used.
-
How will I get my pass?
Most riders receive a digital pass by email that works right on their phone. If your route doesn’t support mobile passes, we’ll mail you a physical pass instead.
-
How long does it take to hear back?
We review requests in the order they’re received and follow up by email, so check your inbox, and your spam folder, after you apply.
-
What if I'm not approved?
Not every request can be approved, but you can still explore your other options, including bus and rail schedules and carpool matching, at https://ctrides.agilemile.com/?rides=true
